I spent a very sparkly and Christmassy afternoon with Miss Kirkham and Year 3 on Monday. The children were sewing Christmas tree decorations for Design Technology; they quickly got the hang of making stitches and they all demonstrated the key skills needed for sewing – patience and perseverance!

Of course glitter and poms poms had to make an appearance and the children had a great time decorating their Christmas trees, and the finished results were brilliant. I understand that Year 3 will be putting little lights in their decorations which I’m sure will make a very festive display.

The children also finished off their worksheets which showed the process behind making their decorations, and I saw lots of interesting initial decoration designs, including Santa hats, elf socks and candy canes! I was so impressed by the children’s neat writing and drawings abilities.

All in all, the glitter, Christmas music in the background and the children’s (and Miss Kirkham’s) energy and enthusiasm certainly got me in the Christmas spirit!
