Normandy 2016 Day 3

Date: 6th Oct 2016 @ 8:45am

After another great night's sleep we went down for breakfast where we sampled the freshly baked croissants and Pain au Chocolate.

Today's itinerary featured the town of Bayeux -our first stop was the weekly market, secondly we visited the cathedral and finally the most famous part of Bayeux - the Tapestry depicting the 1066 Battle of Hastings and the Norman invasion.  The English audio commentary helped us to understand the embroidered pictures and we all spotted Harold with an arrow in his eye!

We had lunch at a beautiful picnic spot in the park before heading to the Longues-sur-Mer battery - a row of German long range navy guns.

Back at base we played rounders on the beach, football and took turns at crazy golf.

Once again the sun shone all day and we made use of every moment!

Tea was a delicious starter of vegetable soup and baguette followed by a serving of fish or roast figs with couscous and ratatouille. Dessert today was a freshly baked muffin.

Before going to the disco we all made our sandwiches for the next day and packed as much of our cases as possible.  Finally we hit the dance floor.  Happy and exhausted we all went to bed at 10:30pm.
