Play and Lunchtimes
Play and lunchtimes can pose particular difficulties for children with autism. They may find the unstructured time confusing. Our mid-day supervisors support children where necessary and will use the same visual prompt cards as we use in class. During playtimes your child may be supported to play structured games that follow clear rules, thus allowing them to develop skills to play with their peers or their independent play may be monitored to enable us to set new social skills or play targets.
We have an active team of midday assistants who support all children to take part in games and activities. These members of staff are supported by Year 6 Play Leaders who also support children to learn new games.
