Thank you year 3 for an absolutely fantastic residential. We were all so impressed by the children's attitudes and super behaviour as always. They embraced all the opportunities and were incredibly independent and grown up. I hope they had lots of stories to tell you. Here is a lot of photos which were taken. We had our second lesson about KiVa today. We built on our learning from the previous lesson of safe and unsafe and learnt today about emotions. We talked about all the different emotions our bodies can feel and that we can sometimes feel different emotions soon after each other. Emotions are completely normal and we need to learn to understand our emotions to predict and sometimes control our behaviour. Our voices also change as does our body language and face. The children shared times when they felt like that.
Here is a link to the parent guide for KiVa which is an antibullying policy which has been introduced across the school.

Our Geography topic at the moment is Litter in Holmes Chapel. This is a great company chance for us to learn about waste and recycling, and also the local area. On Friday morning, we went on a litter pick around the local area to see what types of litter we could find. We were also then able to help clean up our community.

Year 3 have been learning about forces and magnets in science. Today we explored how magnets have a magnetic field which produces a pulling field and attracts objects which are made from certain materials. We also learnt that magnets have poles. The same poles repel but opposite poles attract.
We investigated which materials in the classroom are magnetic and attrracted to the magnet. We then took pictures using the iPads and use app called PicCollage to make a collage of all the photos!

We are loving the new iPads! So far, we have used them for Computing, French and a PSHE lesson. We have all been so focused by our work and have worked so quietly. We need to concentrate more than usual to understand the iPads! It’s amazing that we can work anywhere in the classroom.
The children have learnt so much in such a short period of time like how to mirror to the Apple TV, how to close apps, how to write a document and much more. All the adults are so impressed. We can’t wait for more learning opportunities.

In science, we have been learning about light and dark. We found out that dark is when there is no light. Sometimes, something will block the light. This causes a shadow.
We had a great time making shadows puppets and using them to make shadows on the interactive whiteboard.

In year 3, we are preparing to make photo frames. We have been busy trying to make stands to help our photo frames stand up. Our stands needed to move forward and backwards and allow our frames to be portrait and landscape. Miss Smith was so impressed with how resilient we were and how quickly we made working stands!
