Keeping Safe

Safeguarding is our number one priority at Hermitage Primary School. All pupils need to be safe and feel safe.  We all ensure that school is a safe place for everyone and that everyone feels safe at Hermitage. 

Our safeguarding ensures that robust and effective measures are in place to safeguard all children from the potential risk of harm and that the safety and wellbeing of the children are of the highest priority in all aspects of our school’s work.

All members of our school community:

  • Are aware of their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Know the procedures that should be followed if they have a cause for concern.
  • Know where to go to find additional information regarding safeguarding.
  • Are aware of the key indicators relating to child abuse.
  • Fully support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Our Designated lead for Safeguarding and Child Protection is the Headteacher, Mr Adam Young, who can be contacted directly by email at: [email protected] or by calling the school office.

NSPCC

The NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) is a well-known charity dedicated to preventing abuse, helping rebuild children’s lives and supporting families. They work with children, young people, schools and other support services.

Helpline

The NSPCC helpline is staffed by trained professionals who can provide expert advice and support. If you are worried about a child or young person, you can contact NSPCC helpline for free support and advice:

Cheshire East Consultation Service (ChECS)

The Cheshire East Consultation Service (ChECS) is the ‘front door’ for access to services, support and advice for children and their families, covering early help and support through to child protection.

Phone: 0300 123 5012 (option 3)

Callers will be directed to a Unit Coordinator who will determine if the concerns are related to early help or safeguarding.

You will then be connected to either a Practitioner Support Officer (EHB) for Early Help concerns or a Social Worker (ChECS) for safeguarding concerns. The worker will gather your information and advise you on the next steps.

If you need to contact someone out of hours and believe it to be an emergency that can’t wait, please call the emergency duty team at 0300 123 5022.

If you think a child is in immediate danger, do not delay – call the police on 999.
