SEND Overview

At Hermitage Primary School we are passionate about inclusion and ensure that all of our pupils belong, achieve and thrive.

Our pupils who have additional needs make strong progress from their starting points, from the support and provision in place across the school. Class teachers and teaching assistants take part in a range of professional development opportunities, enabling them to provide expert Quality First Teaching as the first step to universal inclusion provision at Hermitage.

We follow the Cheshire East Toolkit for SEND and teachers work closely with the SENDCo to identify needs early through a Graduated Approach to meet the needs of all pupils within their class.

As a school, we collaborate with external agencies and the local authority to ensure that our pupils and parents are supported in a timely and effective manner. 

SEND Coffee Mornings:

Each term we hold a SEND coffee morning for our families, where we invite guest speakers from different external services and have staff on hand to answer any questions.

Our next SEND coffee morning will be in Autumn. The next guest speaker will be a speech and language therapist.

SEND Report/Local Offer

In July 2014, the Government published the Code of Practice, which sets out the approach and provision for Special Educational Needs. As part of this, every school in England and Wales has to provide a SEN School Report, which outlines what each school has to offer when considering Special Needs. At Hermitage, we follow and use Cheshire East Local Offer.

CEIAS-Cheshire East Information Advice Service

CEIAS is a support network for parents and they can give you advice if your child has Special Educational Needs.
